If I may introduce myself, my name is Jerry Grigory.
I was born and raised in Texas, but by the time I was twenty-eight, a large portion of my photography education and experience had been earned in the Caribbean and Central America. In 1986 I relocated in Maui, Hawaii in search of a different form of landscape art-form images. Since then, I have, with no exaggeration, made thousands of dives, photographed thousands of family portraits, weddings, and created thousands of landscape-art prints. In 2017 I finally decided to settle in Hana, Maui. This quiet little town (nicknamed "The Heart of Hawaii") is located on the southeastern side of the island at the base of a ten thousand foot volcano, snuggled into one of the most exotic rainforest in Hawaii.
For the past 30 years I have been honored and blessed to have my images hang on walls in homes around the world. Images that declare the beauty and wonder of this special place on earth. My passion for Hawaii's overflowing beauty and rich ancient culture are equaled only by a drive to create imagery that invokes the graceful power of hula and the unique allure of the island's wonder. Having been a multiple, award winning member of the Professional Photographers of America since 1994 and a member of the American Society of Photographers since 2012, it has been an amazing journey. My certifications include: PPA Certified Professional Photographer and PPA Certified Master Photographer. Other memberships and awards include the Professional Photographers of Hawaii and merited print awards including the prestigious Loan Collection division of PPA and Kodak Gallery Awards.
You've heard the expression "If these walls could speak". Well then, picture this: They can. They do.

I pull an amazing amount of inspiration from mentors that have molded myself and my work over a spanse of over forty years. Always looking for that different perspective to a subject. Always striving to create a better image that the last. Each day on Maui brings to view a new vision of life. A new sunrise, a new day, a new light.
When searching for a subject, I've found that the most inspiring images are sometimes right underneath my nose. I have always been taught to "keep it simple", therefore I tend to stay away from extremely trendy special effects. Even though digital manipulation has become a powerful main stream tool for image creation, I still lean toward applying proven "Old School" philosophies and principles to attain through Photoshop what I'm looking for in an image.
I could certainly list of awards, merits, credentials, and certifications as listed above. But THIS is what I remember most:
Manta rays gliding inches overhead. Hiking through volcano forest completely surrounded by indigenous floral plant life and fog at 8,000 feet. Exploring remote beaches knowing I am the only human being around for miles and miles and miles and ALL you can hear are the symphonic sound of waves over sand and rocks.
Years ago on a boat trip from Maui to Lanai, the boat captain stopped in mid-channel complaining that there was a vibration through the hull and suspected that something was entangled around the propeller shaft. He asked me to check it out, so I went overboard. While cutting away at the shred of netting around the shaft, I noticed something moving in the distant background. As it come closer, I recognized it to be a female humpback whale and her newborn calve. They had decided to do a "glide-by" to check ME out. It was an amazing sight that I will never forget.
